July 2016
We are delighted to announce the hiring of David Sand as the new Executive Director of Lynn House of Potomac Valley. Since stepping in as Interim Executive Director two months ago, David has excelled in all aspects and responsibilities of this position, and we are deeply grateful he has agreed to continue serving in this capacity.
David has been a Journal-listed Christian Science nurse since 2001. He worked at Lynn House as both a nursing floor supervisor and a visiting CS nurse from 1998 – 2005. Upon returning to his home state of Massachusetts he took on private duty cases for a time and then worked steadily as a contract CS nurse at the Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association until called to lead the staff at Lynn House in May of this year.
Prior to David’s life as a Christian Science nurse, he worked for the Archives and Library of The Mother Church, first in Records Management and then as Curator, which included oversight responsibility for the conservation of two of our beloved Leader’s historic homes (in Lynn and Chestnut Hill). He has researched special projects and exhibits for The Christian Science Board of Directors as well.
David has a master’s degree in 19th Century American History from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. David also is a musician and composer whose work appears on two CDs available in our CS Reading Rooms.
We very much appreciate David and his wife Pamela’s willingness to leave their much loved home in Buckland, MA and return to northern Virginia in support of Christian Science nursing. We have every confidence that David’s work as Executive Director will result in abundant blessings for Lynn House and the mid-Atlantic Christian Science community it serves.
